I could never get anything better with versions previous to LM7.x than 16bit at
1024X768...but I have SiS 6326 in this box on a PCCHIPS M741lmrt mother(and it
sure is a mother). I can get decent resolutions with it up to 32bit at 1024X768.
1280x1024 causes some odd display problems.
Another problem is a lack of memory...SiS6326 AGP's suck up to 8MB from your
onboard RAM. Also make sure there is a full 8MB allotted to the video ram in
your BIOS setup. You might just need some more memory on the board for the
rest of the machine. If there is a selection on the list for the SiS 620, you
might try that, too. I noticed a big difference in performance when I took 64mb
(outta 160MB total...my..eeek...WIN server needed it...sorry) out and ran it
with 96MB. Although mine seems to run fine whether the BIOS is set to AGP or
PCI for this chipset, it seems that it would be best to set it to AGP. This is
under AMIBIOS...if your BIOS is a different make...you'll have to do some
searching there. I have been looking for X-upgrades for quite a while because I
like 1280X1024 resolutions, but no luck yet. Hope this helps a little
