Haven't noticed anyone replying correctly to this, so I'll tell you the
solution .. at least it solved my problem which sounds like the same. For
some reason my locale didn't get installed .. so I just did an rpm -Uvh on
locales-en-2.3-3mdk.noarch.rpm .. this fixed the problem. Of course, pick
the locale for you. Hope this fixes your problem
