Ah, I have had this too but haven't gotten around to asking about
it yet. I too would like to know what's up with this (I did precisely
the same thing as you vis a vis upgrading to glib-2.1.3 and installing
the same locales rpms you list.
I have been busy, instead of trying to get this fixed, at simply trying
to be able to build XFree86-4.0.1, tcltk-8, and a few others. \
