mpage is used by the standard print setup for multipage printing (1,2,4 and 8 pages per sheet). There are lots of options, read man mpage. See the -J option, it describes in depth how to print a long doc, one all one side first, turn over the stack of paper and then the other side. Use the redhat printtool (still comes with 7.1, and set up two printers, one for odd numbered pages, one for even and go from there (I use icons on the desktop so its easy!) btw, the Mandrake printer setup needs some usability features, so its more flexable like the older redhat one.
