Hello,It is difficult to find a single source to answer all your 'basic' questions. A good choice would beI just picked up a book called Beginning Linux Programming from Wrox. I have
just started reading this book, and there are some questions that I think they
assume I know, but don't. I need to find a book or a webpage that explains
several basic things. Like why does every file in C start with #! include?
www.linuxstart.com - It has various categories and you can browse through them to find out what you need
I had found the first few chapters of a book called 'Linux Programming by Example' to be useful but I wont say anything more
For the most part this book looks to be very useful as it is very thick, and
uses a more conversational tone rather than technical, but it doesn't cover
some of the raw basics. Any suggestions would be useful.
You dont need to learn elisp for shell programming..There are lot of resources
Also I am going to try emacs. Do I need to learn elisp to do shell
programming, which the book covers, or can I still use (I think) C?
on the web on shell porgramming. There was a couple of articles on linuxgazzete.com on bash shell
scripting. Elisp is useful for extending 'emacs' functionality.
