How would you put separate pages for the mount(2) system call and the
mount(1)
program usable from the shell ? There are some commands named just like the
basic system call they use.  So you just begin with one section for commands
and other for system calls. And what about config files, such as fstab (I
continue
with the mount example...), that are not commands nor calls...
If you follow that way, you'll end up with the full sectioning in actual
man...
And I supposse that the number order is somehow logic: first of all, we
need manuals
for commands (man1). Oh, I spent all the day developing the unix kernel and
need
a reference for system calls...(man2). Wouldn't be nice also a manual for
libc
calls ? Yes, you got man3...and so on.
