This means you have to upgrade to a version of rpm that is greater or equals to rpm 3.0.3-1. So upgade to rpm 3.0.5 for example. I upgraded from a initscript-4.9x to a 5.2x release without any problems on a Redhat system but did not try this on mandrake yet. I think Mandrake is just redhat with some additions so in theory it should work. But did not test it yet.
