Hi Everyone,

I've purchased a new Gateway E5400 and forgot to check the
chipsets used. Well, they've switched to newer Intel chipsets
for the PCI components and are all based on the
82801AA controller (for the bridge, ide, etc.). At first
the system would hang on the PCI probe, but looking into
boot options, I tried the "pci=conf2" option and the system
booted and I installed 7.1 AOK. However, looking at the boot
messages after the install, linux reported that no PCI bus
was found. All other components are fine (UDMA disks, AGP,
etc.), but none of the PCI slots are seen. As an additional
gotcha, I successfully installed on a system that uses the
82801AB controller; the PCI bus was probed and all cards
located. Anyone run into this? Or has anyone dived into
the kernel source for the PCI recognition?

-Bill
