Any one out there setup an email server yet?  Wondering how the directory structure should be set.  Me thinks that for every email addy there needs to be a /home/username directory but I'm not sure.  Perhaps to make backups simple I'll try /home/email/username.  From what I understand I can use linuxconf to set up POP only accounts and specify a user directory.

I know, I'm probably making this MUCH more complicated than it really is but I've been trying RTFM and I'm not getting any clear answers.

To continue...

I plan to allow users to view their mail either via webmail or d/l it via Nutscrape, Pine, etc.  I am also planning to host a mail list or two.  Bear in mind that this machine is also my web server although I don't expect that this will consume THAT much space but on the other hand the webmail side could.

Thanks,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please:

Is sendmail simply the base SMTP server and POP3, IMAP are used to read mail?

I plan to use Mailman ( www.gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman.html  & www.list.org ) for my listserver.  It appears to be strictly a SMTP based software.

Webmail ( www.adjeweb.com ) will be used for my web based mail access.  It too appears to be strictly SMTP based software.

I will however also need to have regular POP3 or IMAP accounts.  Anyone care to offer an opinion on these.  It is my understanding that POP3 is the more popular of the two but Nutscrape does not allow you to configure more than one POP3 account at a time.  I would like to be able to access several address on potentially multiple servers.

Many Thanks,
