Check your model and look at http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/cameras.html

If your camera is the one supported, you should be able to get it
detected by the stock mandrake kernel by:
"modprobe ov511"

I have a creative webcam 3 running motion (http://motion.technolust.cx/)
and mpeg_encode on a P60 w/32MB Ram. I haven't yet managed to get
camstream to compile yet.

The easiest program to check to see if it is working is vidcat, part of
the w3cam program.

Search freshmeat for "webcam" and you will find all the software
available. I found mpeg_encode as an rpm on rpmfind.net.
