I had this problem when I did a right click format from windows (right click
on hard drive and format)
when I formatted from the windows installer or from the command prompt in
dos then it worked fineeee

but I couldn't get the GUI formatted drive for windows to werk in linux

luckily I just toasted it and reformatted with mkfs :-)
