Read the Readme!! Go then to http://mandrakeuser.org/ and find their HOWTO on compiling the kernel Then read the whole lot again!! Having been there and tried to do this from Xwindows - I don't recommend trying it this way. I'm pretty certain you will get the same list of advise from elsewhere as well.
