I think you might also want to take a look at sql/php if you really need it to be a database. You will have to find out aobut using something like MS Access with the mysql or PostGreSQL ODBC drivers to do this. It all depends on what you _actually_ want to do. If it's very basic, you can try server-side includes on apache, and use samba to share the files across the network.
