How about typing the path ? Try doing it from the command-line. As root, check the permissions on the directories, just so you see exactly waht makes this so. Hint: to be able to view a file, you need read permissions on the file, and execute permsissions on every directory on the path to the file. To do "ls" in a directory, same as above but you need read permissions on the directory you are in.
