Read the line above "you have been dropped to a shell, enter root password or CTRL-D for normal startup" and it will probably tell you you need to run fsck on a partition (most likely root). So run fsck (fsck can only be run on unmounted partitions, which is why you got this message) after entering your root password. When you are done, CTRL-D.
