Good luck! If you can retrieve your "Hotmail" w/ Outlook with is probably some built in hook that M$ put in to Outlook and I doubt it will work with any other email client. If the setting in Outlook (for Hotmail) is in the same place that the setting for your regular POP/IMAP server, you might be able to insert the same setting in your email client and see if that works.
