If we're discussing SCSI, and we probably are, as I don't know of any EIDE tape library systems (could be though!?) then the card is irrelevant. The systems I've worked on usually are split. By this I mean that the tape unit and the changer appear as two different devices (same id, different lun). You need to make sure that the backup software understands and can control the library. There are some utilties (mt for the tape and mtx for the library) that let you control the devices, but it's really much easier if the backup software knows to unload/load and continue. I use HP and haven't had any problems, but you probably need to surf deja and see what turns up there.
