I've spent the last 24 hours (nonstop) playing with mandrake 7.2--specifically attempting to get chinese to work... Mandrake has been advertising their internationalization support for some time, and since chinese is critical to my productivity, I was excited to be able to work with it... The install program in chiense was FLAWLESS... HOWEVER...when KDE2 loads...all I see everywhere is question marks...except in the title bar of the menus and the stuff in english. furthermore, XCIN does not load.... curious as to why, I poked into the config file and found it was trying to load some ming font..incorrectly named... so I changed the /etc/chinese/xcinrc file to load the chinesefont "*big5-0" and sure enough, xcin appeared when I started kde2... but still everything appears as questionmarks.... and the only program that appears to support chinese is netscape.... someone HELP :-) if ANYONE has had success in chinese linux...please mail me (and the newsgroup)... I've even considered DOWNGRADING to the CLE version of Mandrake 7.1--but that would be just lame as 7.2 has all these kewl features... I notice also when gtop loads it complains about finding the font big5-0 and perhaps it's looking for the same font that xcin was looking for by default........ maybe KDE and everythign is.... Thanks in advance :-) _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
