I have been working with Linux Mandrake for quite a while now. I usually find it very well done. I have two comments regarding the New 7.2 software. 1. I chose to perform an Upgrade to my existing 7.1 installation on my laptop. Even though I had selected the Upgrade path, I was presented with a Background which indicated I was performing an installation. Why? The installation appeared to take over 2 1/2 hours (not even a cold installation takes that long!). Is this a matter of how the CD was burnt? I have an HP 8250i, which doesn't appear on any of the support lists. I used the speed of 4. Did this have an effect on the speed of the installation? 2. After the installation was completed, I had to wait a significantly long amount of time for the NFS Lock daemon start up. It seemed to take about ten minutes, but after that the laptop booted up well enough. Upon entering the KDE Desktop, I was greeted by some interesting images which appeared to not upgrade properly. Have we yet figured out the upgrade from one release of the OS to another yet? What do I need to do in order to clean up my desktop icons and start menus? -- Albert E.
