Playmidi seems to work OK, but 'can' ignore short term tempo changes, which are unfortunately necessary at times (tho' it's no worse than CubaseVST there!). Certainly adequate for many files. Thanks again. I've in fact got kmid working now - remembering back about 2 - 3 years, I'd been confusing kmid & kmidi, and forgot there was a Configure MIDI option in the menus. So, now I'm spoilt!
