I started using mandrake when 7.0 first came out. Installed easily and I loved
it. I upgraded to 7.1 when it came out. My 7.1 system works fantastic and I
also have it running on another computer in the house that acts as my email
server and proxy for this mandrake box and my wife's windows me machine.
I have run into a problem trying to upgrade to 7.2. Everything goes just fine
until it asks for the 2nd disk. I put it in and it kicks it back out when I
click on the ok button, the same thing for the 3rd and 4th disk, so I do the
install with just the 1st disk. I discovered afterwards I'm unable to access
my cdrom, I get an error saying it's locked and I don't have access to it.
This occurs as a user or as root. Cdrom2 works fine. What I'm thinking is
this drive gets locked during installation from the 1st disk and is unable to
read the subsequent disks. Why would this happen? Hardware? I've had the
same results on 2 different computers. I've tried the upgrade option and the
install option using store bought disks and disks I burned from iso's I
downloaded. Maybe I'll disconnect my cdrom and run the install from the cd-rw
drive. I'm getting tired of doing installs. I sure do like what I've seen of
7.2 and would like to get it installed so that it works properly. There just
seems to be too much missing not being able to use the other disks.
