win4lin 1.0 is a mess to setup if you have to patch the kernel and have lost the matching floppy disk for the cd of windows. using win 95 & office97. Some apps dont install as they access the filesystem in ways that win4lin doesnt intercept, and fail as they see a unix path (/home/win/windows/temp instead of c:/tempwindows/temp, which kills the install) On the last install, windows update has failed to complete - script errors, though it worked a couple of days ago (deleted that one as trying to get a better configuration!) - prob just a normal windows update problem tho, not due to win4lin. On the upside, is fast, can be full screen or windowed. Just wish the app I installed it for would install, but still working on it. BillK
