Look in /etc/ppp/options for a line saying "auth" if it's there, comment it 
out. If it's not there add a line saying "noauth" <all the above without 
quotes>. This has worked well for me through several different Distro's and 
Mandrake in particular since 7.0.

There is a place in kppp setup that you can use to set the default rout.
I don't remember where just off the top of my head <ppp, Ithink>

Alternativly, you may be able to use linuxconf -> routes to other networks to 
set it up.
