look at the netatalk-mailing-archive! many good tips there!

here is my papd.conf, maybe that can help you:
hp:\   #has to start at 1st column!
<tab>:pr=|/usr/bin/lpr-cups -Plp:op=root:\   #must have 1 tab in front
<tab>:pd=/usr/share/cups/model/HP/LaserJet_6MP-Postscript.ppd:   #also

as you see, i am printing over cups, works fine!
not it is a cool server-solution for windows(samba) and
macs(netatalk)!
