I have a library project I need to set up. It consists of about 500 materials, including some CDs, tapes, and (mostly) books. There is no checkout system; all I need to do is create a remotely-accessible list of its contents. I could just put the content in an HTML page, but a Windows user needs to be able to use some tool (preferably net-accessible as well) remotely when more materials arrive to update it. That would occur about 10 times a year, or less. So, I was thinking of using a MySQL database. Looking around freshmeat.net, I found a complete implementation of a library called Koha. However, this quickly fell into the category of "Massive overkill". Is there a simple way? I've heard that I can just put the data in a MySQL table, and use phpSQLAdmin (or something similar) to remotely log into MySQL, but I've never dealt with MySQL before. PS: I have a CueCat barcode scanner, in case that might be helpful in inputting data. -- The camel died quite suddenly on the second day, and Selena fretted sullenly and, buffing her already impeccable nails -- not for the first time since the journey begain -- pondered snidely if this would dissolve into a vignette of minor inconveniences like all the other holidays spent with Basil. -- Winning sentence, 1983 Bulwer-Lytton bad fiction contest.
