Two points:
1) I find that 'startx -- :1 &' is better: you then have access to the
text console if wanted; this can be useful.
2) Depending on system resources, there is no 'need' to stop at display
:1, the same procedure with :2 will give you a desktop under C+A+F9,
etc, but you have to use a different (text) console for each username.
