it sounds like what they're telling you is that you've got a run-on process and the tech has supplied you with an easy way to quickly kill that process that you wouldn't normally be able to detect and kill unless you were to open a program called kpm (KDE Process Manager). Another way to detect and deal with run-on prcesses, which by the way sap system resources rather quickly and Netscape is infamous for this at times, it to open a terminal window, type top, ktop, or gtop, and check the readings that are reported on all running processes. When and if there is a run-on, or runaway process you will be able to quickly spot the culprit because it will be using up A LOT of processor and memory. -- Mark / * Sometimes it becomes necessary to rock the boat * in order to get the rats up from below decks * so they can be kicked over the side and drowned! * * REGISTERED LINUX USER # 182496 */ <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<*REPLY SEPERATOR*>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> On Sun, 3 Dec 2000 EagleIce had this to say! > Hello Benjamin! > > I remembered having had this problem once with Netscape in SuSE, from a SuSE > emplyee I got this to my taste rather cryptic reply: > -------------------------------- > This is because Netscape screwed up and stopped getting > displayed but yet was still running.
