Ok after poking around on the net someone suggest i look in my
.xsession-errors file and i did. It have a interesting line about not
being able to access /dev/nvidiactl

So here's some specs to help you guys out:

k7 thunderbird 800
Asua A7V
Geforce 256 DDR
emu10k
Intel EEpro100

Mandrake 7.2

The problem is like this... with the stock kernel or any kernel with the
agpgart support built as module the nvidia_kernel install will complain
about agpgart.o. Something about it not being able to use it or something.
Trying to compile kernel with agpgart built in, as oppose to a module,
results in error about not able to find apg/agpgart.o
Using a kernel without agpgart at all results in the nvidia_kernel
driver compiling correctly and inserting without errors. However should
NVdriver.o be inserted on X start up my screen will go blank and the
monitor will say it's getting no signal.
If NVdriver.o is not inserted then X starts normally but some programs
will cause the same problem as before. My guess is that they cause
NVdriver.o to load.
If the nvidia line in modules.conf is commented out then this doesn't
happen of course i don't get 3d either.

I have followed the instruction at http://www.mandrakeusers.org and i
and just stumped.

On a side note.. I switch over to mandrake a few days ago from redhat 7
cause a reinstall of RH 7 had a problem with not being able to access
"/dev/lp0". Just an idea about this seems to be similar no?

Anyhow Thanks alot!
Sebastian
