Hallo all,

this is my first request at the list.

I setup Mandrake 7.2 with Samba 2.0.7 on a dual PIII-500 machine.
The setup is ok but I became a error message when I used the smbstatus
command a second time.

Can't create or use IPC area. Error was Die Datei existiert bereits
ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes
Can't initialise shared memory - exiting

I have dicussed these problem with many people and the result is that I
should build my own samba binary without the following change in
include/config.h

#define HAVE_SYSV_IPC 1
to
#undef HAVE_SYSV_IPC

The configure process abort with the following error message :

checking configure summary
ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe
configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config

I checked the the locking results and found the following

checking for fcntl locking... no
checking for broken (glibc2.1/x86) 64 bit fcntl locking... no
checking for 64 bit fcntl locking... no

My question is, where is the error ? Have I the wrong libraries or what else.
If anyone had a idee, please let me know it.

Best Regards,

Olaf Mueller
