To make a long story short, the main problem was "user error" and not getting 'cups' restarted properly and the printer reinitialized as well as getting remote/local printer designations confused. This "pro-version printer has been on sale lately at various Comp USA's. I got mine for $179 and it is VERY IMPRESSIVE. (Was $379 ealier this year. It is now working fantasticly with Linux,Gimp,StarOffice Word Perfect etc. The cartridges are pricey but the results will bring a smile to your face. Thanks again Till for such GREAT work in making these results possible, and my hats off to Epson for cooperating with the Open Source movement. (I realize I am using incorrect proceedure with not following the SOP and replying at the bottom of this email but this is a "mixed bag" ! :) ) William Bouterse Talkeetna Alaska (Great Cross-Country Skiing Now ) On Sun, 17 Dec 2000, Till Kamppeter wrote: > There are new updates and an article about using CUPS under Linux > Mandrake.
