1) Remove all references to your sound modules in modules.conf 2) Rename your existing isapnp.conf file to something else. 3) Remove all memory resident sound modules in their proper order. I.E. lsmod . . awe_wave 159040 2 sb 34752 2 uart401 6384 2 [sb] sound 58368 0 [awe_wave sb uart401] soundlow 464 0 [sound] soundcore 2800 7 [sb sound] . rmmod awe_wave rmmod sb rmmod uart401 rmmod sound rmmod soundlow rmmod soundcore If you get a device busy error, you have to unload another module or program using the module first! Finally run sndconfig from the console. When you get towards the end and are asked if you hear the sound ok, tell it -NO- You can then manually configure the settings for the sound card, assuming no conflicts... -JMS -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Ken Thompson Sent: Monday, December 18, 2000 10:43 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [expert] Sound on LM7.2 and KDE2.1 I get a resource buisy error while trying to configure my SB-AWE64. Modules.conf shows proper configuration (i/o=220, irq=5, dma8=1, dma16=5)<going by memory here so it may not be exact on dma setings> but, cat /proc/interrupts always shows the durn thing on irq 7 and dmesg shows an error message about a conflict on irq7. I don't have a isapnp.conf file anywhere I can find. Soooo, my question is, where do I set the durn thing to irq 5??? I've spen the better part of an afternoon poking about with no results. While I'm on the subject of sound, has anyone got the system sounds in KDE2+ to work with XFree4.01? I have them working fine on another nearly identical machine with XFree3.3.6. 'Bout to loose some hair over this one, it's driving me nuts. It's not important but I would like to know why they wont work.
