I have managed to find the "fix" for the device problem on my desktop. It
appears that with my KDE 2.1 system, if I create a new device or folder, etc,
on my desktop via the desktop menu "Create New" it produces a non-functional
kdelnk for that item. What is missing is a URL entry in the kdelnk. I have
added URL entries to all my device kdelnks, for instance, for my Zip Drive
link, under the Dev=/mnt/zip entry, I added URL=/mnt/zip. This alone appears
to fix the problem. Manually adding the URL= entry to each of my device
kdelnks fixed the problem and I can now directly access the devices from the
desktop by selecting the icon. I still don't have a working Trash icon,
however. I am not sure what to do about that one. There is no kdelnk for
it, it is just a directory but konqueror wont open it when I select it.
