It is only a problem with 7.2 - 7.1 and Cooker work just fine.
Try what civileme has to say, and let us know.
If no fix, arrange your cd burning runs so that the source and
destination to cdrecord are not on the same IDE channel. You can do
this if your CDROM reader and burner are already on different
channels (say hdb and hdd) by swapping both from one channel to the
other - with power off just interchange the two ribbon cable plugs,
and if an ATAPI burner, as user root change the appends in
/etc/lilo.conf to the new burner hd?, run /sbin/lilo and reboot.
