I've found out that the problem is related to gdm, when using kdm as a login page these things don't happen and I can log into whichever desktop or windowmanager as user. Now I need to know where I can change the default login page from gdm to kdm, in SuSE this is done in /etc/rc.config, in Mandrake I can't find any file do do this.
