HardDrake gets it's IDE bus information from /proc/ide/
On one of my Mdk 7.2 boxes, the ATAPI CD-ROM (hdd) shows in HardDrake 0.9.3
list as (none).
HardDrake's info pane shows:
Vendor: Unknown
Model: (none)
Device: /dev/hdd
Bus Type: ATAPI/IDE
#more /proc/ide/ide1/hdd/model
(none)
#
Needless to say, one can't write to this file to correct the info shown in
HardDrake.
It seems to me that a newbie could get quite confused when she sees in
HardDrake that she has (none) for a CD-ROM!
(FWIW it's a DiamondData 24X -- I think that's an OEM brand of Matsushita)
