Hard, yes, but that isn't the real issue. A real modem has a processor
designed precisely for use as a modem. A losemodem requires those
processing duties instead be handled by your CPU, as if it didn't
already have enough to do at once without adding something that is of
extra high timing sensitivity. People who use them with windoze have
trouble with them, so why should it not be the same in Linux? Everybody
loses except those who sell systems that use them instead of real
modems, and even that is an illusory saving due to the trouble they
cause after the sale.
