I have upgraded my 7.2 to XFree86-4.0.2. You CANNOT use the cooker binary
RPMS. I downloaded the cooker src.rpm for 4.0.2 and built that on my system.
 It works flawlessly.

The problem with the cooker binaries are that they are built from glibc2.2
and 7.2 uses glibc2.1. If you try to install the cooker rpms, they will tell
you that you need glibc2.2. DON'T DO IT. If you ignore and install anyway,
your X will be broken.

You cannot simply ugrade to glibc2.2 as this will break EVERYTHING. Just
download the cooker XFree86-4.0.2 src.rpm and build it. I had no problems.
