Make sure you have the '-o raw' option set in your
smb.conf file for the print command.

I had a similar problem. It was caused by the Windows
box spooling a raw file which the Linux box tried to
interpret, causing the printer under cups to fall
over.

I have set the printer up under samba now with two
shares, one includes the -o raw parameter, one
doesn't. To use the first, the printer is set up on
Windos using the native driver. The second is set up
as a generic postscript printer. Both now work quite
happily!

Hope your problem is fixed this easily....
