Hi,

Thanks for the remove/reinstall tip. It has
worked well for me. Here is what I did.

Step I: Downloaded all php related packages
        into a local directory
Step II: Made a backup of my php.ini script
Step III: Uninstalled all php related stuff
         using "rpmdrake"
Step IV: Installed the updated php related rpm's
         from the local directory using
         "kpackage"(kde package manager).
         Using "kpackage" helped circumvent the
         CDROM and install form my local directory.
Step V: copied my php.ini backup onto /etc/php.ini

Step VI: restarted my webserver.

My PHP scripts including the Postgresql call work now.
