[expert] high-resolution console

Question:   I would like to take the default resolution from being 800x600 to something more like 1024x768 or higher. I know how to specify vga mode in lilo, but I am curios as to what information to actually pass? Is their a different way to change this resolution? Anyone even messed with a high-res vga mode console before?   Any help would be great. Cheers,             James.
