I use the rpms from any cooker mirror to install
source/headers/etc, currently
kernel-utils-2.4.1-4mdk
kernel-doc-2.4.1-4mdk
kernel-headers-2.4.1-4mdk
kernel-source-2.4.1-4mdk
I also updated to modutils-2.4.2-1mdk. During config, I enable '2.2
style ipchains' support, and build ppp* in rather than as modules, but
leave ReiserFS and supermount as modules. Modules, particularly
supermount.o, are in a different dir than 7.2's 'mandrake_everytime'
checks, so you need to edit that file, or supermount will be disabled
and 'fstab' overwritten when you boot a 2.4.x.
If you use http://mandrakeuser.org/install/kupgrade3.html as a
guide, including the suggested Makefile edits, all the proper files and
links will be created in /boot for you, just make sure lilo.conf is
correct and boot the new kernel.
