Hi all,
Can anyone help with this one?
The kppp terminal is returning garbage during the
terminal login process i.e. Host Name come out something like Hoost oame. All
other transmissions form the host seem to be the same. I can login via the
terminal if I best guess the response from the server so it seems I am not
sending garbage. The ISP is Compuserve and I had no problems getting a connect
on 7.1. I have checked the speed settings on the port and in kppp. I have used
stty to check the bits and parity are ok. It's almost like I'm on 7
bits.
I've tried everything I know and I can't solve this
problem so I can't esiliy connect to the net because the chat scripts won't work
properly. I only have one possible clue, that is that I can't set up a modem via
Drakconf it simply will not connect but there is no error it just doesn't dial
and then tells me I don't seem to be connnected to the internet. One other
strange thing is that Harddrake doesn't see my modem which it really should
since it is an external US Robotics 56K message modem connected to
/dev//ttyS0!!! Serial ports are detected OK at boot and there no untoward
messages in the boot log.
