Hi all, While doing some mucking around in the /var/log directory and altering /etc/logrotate.conf I appear to have blown away /var/log/lastlog. Now, when I log in I am greeted by: Last login: Wed Dec 31 1969 18:00:00 -0600 Which is before I was born. If I log out and log in again, the message repeats. 'lastlog' giveth: /var/log/lastlog: no such file or directory So my lastlog is history. How do I recreate this? Querying which package owns this file 'rpm -af /var/log/lastlog' yields setup-2.1.9-10mdk. Looking a little further into the package, it also contains /etc/passwd, /etc/services, and other important files, so I don't want to just upgrade the package, obliterating other customized files, hoping for a new lastlog file. Any suggestions? I suppose as a messy fix I could copy the lastlog from a similiarly configured box and then edit out the extra accounts by hand, but I would prefer not to do this. The boxes in question are running Mandrake 7.1. TIA, Matt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
