Hmm....
You can turn off your ftp server with the following (as root):
# service ftpd stop
and stop it from starting on boot with
# chkconfig ftpd off
All of your services can be dealt with in that manner. Turning them back on is done
with the same
commands except substitute start for stop and on for off.
