You aren't looking for something specific to kmail. You are changing a
setting specific to web pages (htm, html, etc) which is the important part.
On the first page of the File browsing setup page, go to text and then to
html. On the first page, lower portion is a big window which contains,
probably, "Quanta". You want to select the add button and TYPE IN konqueror
(do not select it from a list - actually type in konqueror and hit enter).
It will now appear below Quanta. Select konqueror and then the "Move Up"
button to place it above Quanta. Now hit "Apply". From this point onward,
your links in kmail to websites should work properly.

One additional thing...I suggest adding the *.asp extension to the file-type
list at the top which contains things like *.htm, *.html, *.HTM, *.HTML. I
was running into a problem with SOME websites that has the *.asp extension.
Adding this to the list of extensions on the first page fixed it - konqueror
opens them right up.
