Dear Alex and friends:

Thanks so very kindly for your help. I was able to solve the USB Zip
configuration problem on my LM72 with your instructions. Some of it was
relevant, some not. But without your instructions I could not have done
it:

Here is the data:

1) At the end of /etc/rc.local I added the following lines:

insmod usbcore
insmod usb-uhci
insmod usb-storage
[sher@sher sher]$

2) In /etc/fstab and /etc/mtab I added supermount instructions as
follows:

[sher@sher sher]$ cat /etc/fstab
/dev/hda6 / ext2 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /home ext2 defaults 1 2
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom 0 0
/mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount fs=vfat,dev=/dev/fd0 0 0
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/windows vfat user,exec,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
/mnt/zip /mnt/zip supermount fs=ext2,dev=/dev/sda 0 0[sher@sher sher]$

[sher@sher sher]$ cat /etc/mtab
/dev/hda6 / ext2 rw 0 0
none /proc proc rw 0 0
/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 rw 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts rw,mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /home ext2 rw 0 0
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount rw,fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom 0 0
/mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount rw,fs=vfat,dev=/dev/fd0 0 0
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/windows vfat rw,nosuid,nodev,umask=0 0 0
/mnt/zip /mnt/zip supermount rw,fs=ext2,dev=/dev/sda 0 0
automount(pid477) /misc autofs rw,fd=8,pgrp=477,minproto=2,maxproto=4 0
0
automount(pid498) /net autofs rw,fd=8,pgrp=498,minproto=2,maxproto=4 0 0
[sher@sher
sher]$

3) Created the /mnt/zip subdirectory

4) Rebooted and bingo, my USB zip drive is now working flawlessly.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between usb-uhci and usb-ohci?

Thanks so very much.
