I just ran across (on comp.os.linux.announce) an allegedly neat web-based configuration tool for leafnode, called leafwa. It is a collection of web pages and shell scripts. Installing this should be fairly straightforward, but I can't get my browser to see the pages. The directions seem simple enough - basically one has to enable php3, which I did by commenting out the appropriate line in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf, and then restarting httpd. It then says to determine the httpd 'root' directory, which appears to be /var/www, since in that directory are found pages that get loaded when I point Netscape to http://localhost . However, the server root is specified as /etc/httpd, according to the httpd configure file. The documentation says to make a symbolic link to the real location of the leafwa package (currently sitting in my home directory) in this root directory. However, when I do so, I cannot bring up the pages. I've tried putting links in /var/www/html, /var/www, and /etc/httpd, all to no avail. PS. Are there any leafnode users here? I'm running it but find that it wants to slog a bunch of alt.binaries groups despite the fact I never subscribed to them. Needless to say, the load is swamping my available disk space for /var/spool/news and my (DSL) bandwidth. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ David E.
