I was involved in the original discussion on this topic.  Dialpad doesn't 
work as is because it pointlessly queries the user system to make sure it is 
running windows.  If it is not running windows, an error message is presented 
(even though it is strictly java - and not a perverse M$ java).

As for freewebphone, it is not a PC to phone app.  It appears to be a 
strictly web-phone package - a glorified IRC or instant messaging system that 
can connect pc to pc but not pc to phone.
