cat /proc/mdstat   to check the raid-stus

raid0run
raidhotadd
raidhotremove
raidsetfaulty
raidstart
raidstop

You can find an excellent man pag for them. Notice: there's a great 
difference if raid code between 2.2 and 2.4 kernel (much better now!)
