In the next few days I'm going to be doing a major hardware upgrade of new motherboard, CPU, video card, and primary disk controller. I'm thinking that what I would do is do a backup of my entire system with tar, go through a Mandrake upgrade (to deal with the new hardware) and then do a restore from my backups. I have a lot of system stuff I don't want to lose, though, like qt2.3, kde 2.1, etc. What is the best way to do a restore from the backups without messing up the new hardware configurations? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks... -Chris
